Hubs

At Yohden Primary School, we have two hubs to support pupils with their needs. Pupils in the hub may have social communication difficulties, autism or be working significantly behind their expected academic levels.

The level of support provided through these hub places is individualised and is allocated by the SENDCO, taking into account the needs of the whole child and their specific areas of difficulty.

Often pupils in the hubs, have an EHC plan which states the additional, bespoke provision that they require or access other high needs funding.

The number of pupils in the hub is small compared to pupils' normal classroom environment with a higher adult to child ratio.

All pupils accessing The Hub are integrated back into their mainstream classes for lessons, breaks, lunchtimes and wider opportunities including assemblies, swimming and school trips. This promotes inclusion.

To set up the hub, we have worked closely with a range of professionals and members of the SEND team from the local authority.

The local authority have visited the SEN hub this past year to support its implementation.

In a review from the local authority the SEND team stated that,

'The Hub’s development has supported the school’s overall aims to continue to build inclusive capacity to meet the needs of all their children. There is passionate, committed and reflective leadership around SEND provision in school.  Provision is dynamic, fluid, organic and appropriate.'

Sensory and gross motor development

Pupils who access the hubs have daily sensory time.

This can involve access to climbing equipment in the hall or other planned sessions such as obstacle courses, games and yoga.
