Miss Givens’ Class

My name is Miss Givens and I am Reception's class teacher, I am so excited for all the learning we will do together!

My name is Mrs Robson. I am Reception's class teaching assistant. I look forward to learning with you all!
PE days
Our PE day is Friday we wear black/blue shorts or trousers, a white t-shirt and trainers.
Earrings need to be removed for safety.
We encourage independence for dressing in the early years, this takes a lot of practice!
Home learning
Reading is important and we must read for pleasure at least 3 times per week at home with an adult and read our phonics books once a week. Adults need to write about how we read e.g. was there a word we were stuck on, did we read fluently, did we understand the meaning of vocabulary, and could we answer questions about events and characters?
We bring reading books into school every day to help us with our reading. If we put them into the Reading Book Box an adult will change our book, respond to comments and count our reads for the week.
In the summer term we begin to use Numbots to support our maths learning.
What we do in our class
Reception Autumn 1
We have been settling into our new school! We have been getting to know our teachers, friends and new routines. This half term we looked at our homes and shared everything about ourselves. We have been showing off our skills and practicing new skills. We have started Squiggle while you wiggle, dough disco, drawing club, phonics and poetry basket. We have been working on numbers to 5, sorting and matching. In drawing club we have looked at a variety of books and TV cartoons: The Colour Monster, The three Little Pigs, The Pink Panther and Funny Bones. We have had our first ever PE lesson developing our gross motor skills. We have had lots of other exciting activities too such as dancing, rocket making, multi-skills, Macmillan and Harvest and a visit from Ben the police dog to name a few. Take a look at what we have achieved so far!
